Our review
Lost Odyssey is a truly special JRPG that offers a deeply emotional and engaging experience. The story of Kaim, an immortal man seeking to reclaim his lost memories, is poignant and beautifully told through a series of short stories that weave into the main narrative. The turn-based combat is satisfyingly traditional, with a unique twist in the "kof" (King of Fighters) mechanic that allows players to set combat accessories that offer passive bonuses and abilities. While the graphics may show their age, the gorgeous art direction and stunning orchestral score more than make up for it. The characters are well-developed, and their struggles with mortality and loss resonate throughout the journey. Despite some minor frustrations with the camera and occasional disc swapping, Lost Odyssey remains a standout title that any JRPG fan should experience.
